SALT. Optometry's Eye Exams
in Newport Beach
A basic vision test might tell you if you need glasses, but it won’t tell you how healthy your eyes are. SALT. Optometry's comprehensive eye exams are designed to catch what basic tests can’t: early signs of eye disease, lens issues, or other subtle changes that affect your daily comfort and clarity. We serve patients from Newport Beach, Lido Isle, Balboa Peninsula, Costa Mesa, and the greater Orange County area.
Annual Eye Exams: Why They Matter?
Your eyes can change slowly, so slowly you might not notice anything until there’s a real problem. Regular eye exams are one of the most important tools we have for protecting your long-term vision. We don’t just look at how well you can see; we examine how your eyes are functioning, how they’re aging, and how small changes could impact your comfort and clarity.
Even if your vision feels “fine,” an annual eye exam helps us detect issues like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, or diabetic retinopathy early. And for kids, it can mean catching things like eye teaming or focusing problems before they affect learning.
What to Expect at
SALT. Optometry
From the moment you walk in, our goal is to make your experience feel easy, calm, and tailored to you. Every comprehensive eye exam at SALT. Optometry aims to give us a full picture of your vision and eye health. Here’s what your visit might include:
Exams for Every Age & Lifestyle
Your eyes change over time, and so should your care. We tailor every exam to where you are in life and what your eyes need. Here’s how we support you at every stage:
Pediatric Exams
Kids' eye exams help us catch vision problems before they interfere with learning, reading, or development. We recommend an exam at age 5, with follow-up exams every 1–2 years.
Adult Exams
Adults should schedule a comprehensive eye exam annually to detect subtle changes, screen for eye diseases, and address issues related to eye strain or contact lens wear.
Senior Exams
As we age, the risk of developing eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, or macular degeneration increases. Seniors should be seen annually so that we can catch any changes early.
Diabetic Eye Exams
Diabetes can affect the eyes even before symptoms show up. That’s why we recommend annual diabetic eye exams for anyone living with the condition.
Infant Eye Exams Through the InfantSEE® Program
We proudly participate in the InfantSEE® program, a public health initiative designed to provide no-cost, comprehensive eye exams to infants between 6 and 12 months of age.
These exams are gentle, noninvasive, and designed to help ensure your child’s visual system is developing on track. And yes—they’re completely free, whether or not you have vision insurance.
Interested in Contacts?
If you wear contacts or want to, your exam includes extra measurements and evaluations to ensure your lenses fit comfortably and support your eye health. We’ll also talk through lifestyle, dryness, and specialty lens options to help you find your perfect fit.
